found this site after our 14 week old Labrador puppy ( Sadie) suffered an accident that resulted in her having her left rear leg removed. Looking for support , and advice , this is our first ever dealing with such a thing. we have owned Labs for 20 years, not new to dogs just new to taking care of one with three legs 🙂
Welcome to Tripawds! You have come to the right place for support and expectations. Boomer and I found this site just under a month ago. He is a left rear amputee of 2 weeks and 4 days now. He is a 7 year old Golden Retriever and is doing very well.

My Daisy is a new tripawd (amp was Dec. 9th). We’re just figuring all this out too but everyone here offers such great support and info.

She’s so young! On the one hand, I suppose young bones and muscles heal fast, on the other hand, she’s not going to understand about taking it easy. I’m sure you have your hands full!
I’m so glad you don’t have to deal with cancer. Sadie can live a long and wonderful life as a Tripawd.
My Baby is 6 yrs old and had her Right Rear leg amputated 3 1/2 weeks ago. The first couple weeks are tough. Lots of worry, listening for every sound, second guessing everything… and not a lot of sleep. I don’t know how far along you are in this process, but I can already see things get better.
You’ll get lots of support from more experienced tripawd families. We love pictures! Hope you’ll be able to post some.
